Safe Hours

Safe Hours is an outreach program that provides students with the opportunity to get to know a Safe Office Counselor/Advocate in a casual setting. Students are able to develop personal connections with Safe Office staff, ask questions about mental health and interpersonal violence, and learn about services offered by the Safe Office.

Private consultations are available by request within all spaces.

• Women’s Center

Outreach Requests

Outreach offered by the Safe Office encompasses a wide range of events from requesting Safe Office presence at your tabling event, requesting a psychoeducational workshop (Ex: “Understanding Mandated Reporting”, providing a general Safe Office service overview to your class or team, and much more. 

To connect with us regarding an outreach event, please fill out the UCC & Safe Office Program Request Form linked below. This form provides a current list of available workshops. Please note: These are requests, not guarantees. We ask that all requests are submitted at least three weeks before the event date you have in mind. You can expect follow up via email after you complete the form to gather additional information and confirm plans moving forward.

Interview Requests

WFU students often contact our office requesting to interview Safe Office staff regarding various mental health topics for class projects. The Safe Office staff strives to ensure our Counselor/Advocates have the availability to provide counseling and advocacy support to our student population. When receiving a request, we often encourage students to utilize scholarly research and check in with a librarian or online database knowledgeable about mental health sources of information and see what emerging research there is regarding their topic. We do not schedule meetings for interview requests related to classes or class projects and strongly discourage utilizing our walk-in hours to meet this need.
