The continued violence against black and brown individuals highlight the constant traumatic stress experienced by members of the BIPOC community. Students of color are disproportionately impacted by racism, bigotry, and trauma both on and off campus. Trans and non-binary BIPOC students are at particularly high risk for experiencing violence and discrimination.
The Safe Office is committed to providing culturally competent trauma-informed care for students in the BIPOC community that respects the complex historical and generational trauma experiences that students of color live with. We want individuals of all backgrounds to feel heard, validated, safe, and able to heal from experiences of interpersonal violence.
