Bio
Clinical Interests
My passion is in treating complex trauma, including Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Acute Stress Disorder, and complicated grief. I also have extensive experience working with individuals experiencing Depression, anxiety-related disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, substance use disorders, and psychotic and dissociative disorders. I particularly enjoy working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, especially members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Counseling Style
I employ a multi-modality approach in my counseling, often integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, trauma-informed principles and practices, EMDR, and art therapy to help individuals achieve optimal wellness. I am particularly passionate about incorporating non-verbal modalities such as art and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy principles into treatment because trauma is not stored in the same brain regions as verbal language, which can make verbal recollection and processing challenging. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and validating environment where all students can feel heard and understood.
Personal
I find rejuvenation in all things outdoors and love exploring North Carolina’s natural beauty. I have two dogs who bring me immense joy, frequent laughs, and occasional headaches. If I’m not working or in nature you might find me creating art, sewing on my vintage sewing machine, or playing roller derby! I love the Muppets, as they serve as a reminder not to take life too seriously. I always have at least three Muppet-related items in my office! As a native to Winston-Salem I refuse to believe there is a better donut than a hot-fresh-now Krispy Kreme original glazed.
